We write first in blood and tears, then go over in ink.

Workshop – Passionate Pen

pauline

On October 15, Armour Publishing organised a writers’ workshop called The Passionate Pen to commemorate its 25th anniversary. The focus was on memoir writing. It was Armour’s first workshop after quite a few years.

We were honoured to have award-winning author Colin Cheong to be our workshop speaker. He is also my ex-colleague from The New Paper. Also caught up with old friends like Renee, Seow Ser, Rosie and Sofina. Glad to see they are still persevering at the writing craft!

I anchored the afternoon workshop. I titled my workshop “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants”. It is an appropriate title for a memoir workshop because, when we write memoirs, we are celebrating the giants who have gone before us, who have done their best to make society a better place for us to live in. My workshop is also a tribute to a special man—Ong Tien Soo, my father-in-law.
