Asian Festival of Children’s Content is one of the most prominent gatherings of children’s book authors, publishers and illustrators in this region. So, it is an honour to have a public launch for Jade’s Quest for Her Heritage here. Moreover, we will be doing it in The Pod, with a sweeping view of downtown and the skyline.
Illustrator Heng Li Ching’s art will also be displayed at the AFCC Book Illustrators Gallery (BIG).
Please join us for our big day! September 8, 2pm, in The Pod at Central Library, Victoria Street.
On 8 August 2019, I was invited to the Book Launch of Jade’s Quest for Her Heritage at Singapore Chinese Girls’ School. After labouring on this book for half a year, I am extremely relieved and satisfied to see it in print.
On the day itself, I invited my daughter Maxine to join me for the book launch. It was a good chance for her to revisit her alma mater. Maxine studied in SCGS from 2006 to 2015. The Launch was being held together with SCGS National Day celebrations. The timing was deliberate as the book had national and cultural content, having won funding from National Heritage Board and SGBicentennial.
During the celebrations, we got to watch tiny Kim Geks dance to a medley of Singapore tunes. Totally adorable! Squeeworthy shots! But I can’t post photos of minors here! Then, it was on to the Launch, held in the Alice Lee Hall.
The team responsible for the Book Launch– (from left) project coordinator SCGS Vice Principal Ho Hui Ping, National Heritage Board Grace Chan, artist Heng Li Ching, me and SCGS Ms Kang. Missing from picture is my designer Haw Shing Yee.
I also thank my writers’ group– The Penultimate Stop– for their presence at the launch.
I have so, so many thoughts about Jade’s Quest inspiration and creation, which I will share soon.
